Well, if that;s what she’s after…two things – one, she could leave them the food and bags, if it’s the metal she wants. Two – the crew knows where to find LOTS of metal…bit of a suicide jaunt, but it isn’t like it’s hard to come by, if you know where to look. wonder if that information is worth anything… (remember, these people apparently woke up as amnesiacs outside the lab – our escapees may be the only ones who have any idea where it is)
Then again, considering what I’ve been through just playing minecraft, it would be understandable that there might be quite a bit to learn. A bowl of gold would be a good starting point of learning how to work with metals.
It’s a soft metal after all. Maybe it’s even more plentiful then other metal elements here.
Well, you can easely understand why she’s looking at the ink bowl and how did she realised they have lack of steel – when peoples use such “expensive” material not out of vealth, but of simple need, it seemse, that they lack some of more solid materials to work with.
I’m pretty sure that’s bronze. Bronze is very easy to make and its components are malleable and common. It could be gold, but the Domagi specifically stated “Bronze Age.”
So…… question is; how much soft metals do they have available to them.
The biggest challenge is actually heating up metals to their correct temperature. Iron has a very high melting point of 1500 degrees Celsius. This means it is very hard to procure iron from iron ore. And we are not even going into manufacturing steel, which is a bucket of trouble in itself.
Convenient that Marianne did not think that was gold? Do not make things that easy for the characters mister storyteller. đ Atleast Domagi has a justified reason and this did not turn real bad.
I think it’s gold, actually. If they’d have SO much bronze, that they use it for ink bowl, then why de heck they need steel?
Bronze is the same thing as steel, yet it doesn’t rust. Also, amount of bronze in our world is way more limited than amount of iron to produce the steel, so bronze in OUR wold is way more expensive.
So, i bet the bowl is golden, which why Mariane quickly gathered their problem.
To follow on – Bronze got discovered by every* civilization that got into metallurgy, but most didn’t manage steel – so, it’s pretty safe to say that bronze is much easier to figure out than steel is.
I don’t have much to say that is really relevant, so I’ll just say: Great page! We see a little more into the lives of the Domagi and the villagers. I am curious though about the bandit groups.
So she is offering them a place as members of her comunity, which includes a safe place to live and passage off the island, in return for their Steel cookware. Sound like a good deal to me, the gains FAR outway the loss of a few frying pans.
Un projet long et ambitieux. Et ca rend l’histoire encore plus exitante lĂ :]
Well, Zach brought this wall of text on himself đ
Wait a second, what about Jillian’s armor, isn’t that made of steel? Couldn’t they gain knowledge from that to build ships and other weaponry?
@Choo – that’s not armor, that’s what her skin and flesh have turned into. Removing it would probably kill her.

“…accelerate our efforts significantly”. Small amount of cookware? Will accelerate? Significantly?!
What a smooth talk. I totally wouldn’t trust them.
Well, if the cookware literally doubles their supply of steel…
The cookware is perfectly made material. Think of it like a guidebook in a way.
A wall of text is not as unwelcome as many think it is đ
Hmmmmmm….Marianne seems to have noticed the Inkwell bowl on the table like I have.
But it makes me wonder if it’s significant? It certainly isn’t steel, but it is metal. I wonder why they can’t work with that?

The difference between bronze and gold is a lot more apparent in real life than in this artwork style.
So it’s bronze?
Well in either case, they most likely have to work small and with what they’ve got to learn how to work with metal.
They can’t waste perfectly good items or tools either. It’s going to be interesting to see just how their going to use that steel.

Iron is pretty common, steel, on the other hand is difficult to make without modern industrial processes.
